The Wordsmith
Olivia clearly has taken to heart that I called her a wordsmith on her first day. It’s come up several times since I said that on Monday. It reminds me yet again how seriously those we manage take the words we use to describe them.
We all try to understand ourselves. When someone offers us a mirror we take it. When we respect someone and they say something unexpected about ourselves, we might well mull on that for quite a while until we either incorporate that into our self view or reject it as inaccurate. When that new view is a compliment, we try very hard to incorporate that, even if it conflicts our existing view.
